Editorial Standards

Flickthru Editorial Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026

This policy explains the standards Flickthru applies when researching, evaluating, writing, reviewing and updating product rankings and related editorial content.

Our aim is to publish useful, evidence-led comparisons while maintaining a clear separation between editorial decisions and commercial relationships.

Our editorial position

Flickthru is an independent product research and comparison publisher. We are not a retailer, manufacturer or direct-testing laboratory, and we do not claim to have physically tested every product that appears in our rankings.

A shield containing a document, writing instrument and check mark representing responsible editorial standards.

Purpose & Scope

Standards for responsible product publishing.

This policy applies to Flickthru product rankings, comparison pages, category guides, supporting research, buyer guidance and other editorial material published on Flickthru.com.

It governs how we separate editorial decisions from commercial interests, how external evidence is used, how technology-assisted research is supervised and how corrections or updates are handled.

Detailed information about market discovery, evidence assessment, category-specific evaluation and the CORE™ ranking process is provided separately on our Methodology page.

Editorial Commitments

Principles applied across Flickthru content.

Independence

Commercial relationships do not determine which products qualify, how they score or where they rank.

Accuracy

Product claims should be supported by relevant evidence and clearly distinguished from interpretation or editorial judgment.

Transparency

We explain our research position, disclose affiliate relationships and avoid implying direct testing that did not occur.

Accountability

Readers can report potential errors, and published information may be corrected or updated when necessary.

Our Editorial Standards

How these principles are applied.

1

Editorial independence and ranking integrity

Flickthru retains editorial control over product eligibility, evaluation criteria, scores, ranking positions, written conclusions and publication decisions.

  • No manufacturer, retailer or affiliate partner can purchase a ranking position, score, award or favorable conclusion.
  • The presence or absence of an affiliate relationship does not determine whether a product is eligible for consideration.
  • Rankings combine structured evaluation with human editorial oversight. We do not claim that judgment or interpretation can be removed entirely from product research.
  • Category-specific rules and weights are established through the methodology rather than a permanent five-factor formula.
2

Research and source standards

Flickthru uses multiple source types because no single source normally provides a complete account of product performance, ownership, support, value and market availability.

  • Official manufacturer pages, technical documents and support materials are prioritized for product identity and specifications.
  • Independent reviews, professional testing and benchmark results may be used as external evidence where relevant.
  • Owner feedback may be used to identify recurring experiences, satisfaction patterns and practical ownership concerns.
  • Evidence should match the correct product, model, configuration, region and time period wherever those distinctions materially affect the conclusion.
  • Missing or conflicting evidence is not presented as certainty. Conclusions may be qualified when the available record is limited.
3

Technology-assisted research and responsible AI use

Flickthru uses software, automation and artificial intelligence to assist with market discovery, evidence organization, structured comparison, scoring workflows and editorial production.

  • Automated tools support the research process but do not establish Flickthru’s editorial standards independently.
  • Important factual claims should be supported by identifiable sources rather than accepted solely because an automated system generated them.
  • Human review is used to check practical relevance, product identity, market realism and the presentation of final conclusions.
  • Technology-assisted content must not falsely imply first-hand experience, physical testing or personal product use.
4

Human review and editorial responsibility

Structured systems improve consistency, but responsibility for published conclusions remains with Flickthru and its human editorial oversight.

  • Final product recommendations are reviewed for category relevance, important compromises and consistency with the supporting evidence.
  • Technology-focused rankings may be reviewed by John Reynolds, an IT infrastructure professional and Flickthru reviewer.
  • Human review does not automatically mean that a product was physically tested or personally owned by the reviewer.
  • Buyer-facing content should translate research into clear, responsible language rather than exposing raw internal notes or unsupported assumptions.
5

United States market relevance

Flickthru’s current product rankings are researched for the United States market.

  • US manufacturer pages, US product variants and US support information are prioritized where available.
  • Product pricing is generally presented in US dollars and assessed against the US market.
  • Availability should normally relate to current new stock from a reputable US purchase source.
  • International evidence may provide context but is not treated as proof that the same model, configuration, warranty or price applies in the United States.
6

Commercial relationships and affiliate links

Flickthru may earn commissions through affiliate links when a visitor completes a qualifying purchase. Affiliate revenue supports the operation and continued development of the website.

  • Affiliate relationships do not guarantee that a product will be included, recommended or ranked favorably.
  • Brands and retailers cannot pay for favorable editorial treatment.
  • Flickthru does not accept gifts, payments or private incentives in exchange for artificial score inflation or favorable coverage.
  • Affiliate and advertising relationships are disclosed through the website’s Affiliate Disclosure and page-level notices.
7

Originality, attribution and intellectual property

Flickthru aims to publish original comparative analysis and buyer-facing editorial content.

  • External test results and professional findings are treated as third-party evidence rather than represented as Flickthru’s own physical testing.
  • Sources may be cited, linked or referenced where appropriate for verification and transparency.
  • We do not knowingly reproduce substantial protected material without authorization or an appropriate legal basis.
  • Product names, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
8

Updates, corrections and changing markets

Product markets change continually. Prices, specifications, availability, warranties and product families may change after a page is published.

  • Rankings may be reviewed when meaningful new evidence or product changes affect an existing recommendation.
  • A correction may update specifications, wording, ranking position, product identity, price context or availability information.
  • Updates are not necessarily instantaneous, and Flickthru does not claim to monitor every price or listing continuously.
  • Readers should confirm the exact product, configuration, current selling price and purchase terms before completing a transaction.
Editorial Safeguards

What Flickthru will not do.

Editorial trust depends not only on what a publisher does, but also on the practices it refuses to adopt.

Flickthru does not promise perfect certainty, uninterrupted market monitoring or complete immunity from error. Our responsibility is to maintain reasonable research standards, communicate limitations honestly and correct material inaccuracies when identified.

Corrections Process

How potential errors are handled.

Readers, manufacturers and retailers may report a factual error, configuration issue, outdated listing or other material concern.

1. Report received

The concern should identify the relevant page, product and specific statement or data point being questioned.

2. Evidence reviewed

Flickthru reviews the available supporting evidence and determines whether the published content requires clarification or correction.

3. Appropriate action taken

Material errors may result in updated wording, data, availability information, scoring inputs or ranking placement.

Report an editorial concern

Use the Flickthru contact page for correction requests, source questions or concerns about compliance with this policy. Include the page URL and enough detail for the issue to be reviewed.
