- Works across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, SMS, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and Slack, in dozens of languages
- Testing suite with simulations and regression tests, plus controls for tone, behavior and knowledge without engineering help
- Hands conversations to human agents with the full customer context
Pricing
- Fin on another help desk — $0.99 per outcome — no seats or setup fees; minimum of 50 outcomes a month
- Fin with Intercom Essential — $29 per seat/mo plus $0.99 per outcome — Intercom help desk with live chat, email and in-app chat included
- Intercom Advanced / Expert — $85 / $132 per seat/mo plus $0.99 per outcome — workflows and more, with 20 / 50 free Lite seats
- Free trial — 14 days, no credit card, unlimited outcomes
Support teams with a solid help center that want an AI agent to resolve a large share of routine questions across chat, email and voice.
Small teams on tight budgets or with unpredictable volume, since per-outcome billing grows with every handled conversation.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 100/100. It answers from your content and procedures and can complete multi-step tasks such as refunds and order checks, and reviewers and users rate its resolution quality highly.
- Integrations & channels: 90/100. It covers chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, SMS and social channels and runs on Intercom or several other help desks, though Zendesk is not among them.
- Value: 80/100. Pay-per-outcome pricing from $0.99 with no seats needed on other help desks is easy to start, but bills scale with volume and some outcome types cost more.
- Privacy & reliability: 70/100. It uses anonymized customer data to improve its models unless you ask to opt out, and in 2026 it changed the measure Fin bills on for existing customers, though its AI providers do not keep inputs or outputs.
- Expert & User Ratings: 100/100. Reviewers regularly place it at or near the top of lists of AI customer service tools, and users rate it highly.
Our verdict
Intercom Fin ranks first: reviewers and users rate its answer quality and resolution rate the highest on this page, and it completes multi-step tasks such as refunds across chat, email, voice and messaging, on Intercom or on another help desk. Per-outcome billing can make costs hard to predict at high volume, and it uses anonymized customer data to improve its models unless you opt out.
- Reviewers and users regularly praise its answer quality and resolution rate
- Works on Intercom or on top of other help desks such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Freshdesk
- Built-in testing and simulation tools before changes go live
- Per-outcome fees rise with volume and can make costs hard to predict
- Some users report answer accuracy slips on heavily customized setups
- Some users find the native workflow builder limiting for complex flows
- You are charged one outcome per conversation: a resolution, a procedure handoff, a disqualification or a self-serve route costs $0.99, a lead qualification costs $9.99, and conversations passed to your team without an outcome are free.
- Using Fin on a help desk other than Intercom requires at least 50 outcomes a month; on Intercom you also pay per help desk seat.
- Customer data is used in anonymized form to improve Fin’s models unless you ask to opt out.
- Price change: On March 12, 2026, Intercom changed the measure Fin bills on from resolutions to outcomes, which also count some handoffs and completed tasks.

- Lyro AI agent that reads your website and support content and answers only from what you provide
- Actions for order updates, lead qualification, ticket routing and live product recommendations
- Handoff and escalation rules that alert your team and let agents step into any conversation
- Lyro Connect to run Lyro inside other support tools such as Zendesk, Intercom and Salesforce
- Live chat, ticketing, email and no-code Flows automations in one inbox
Pricing
- Free — $0 — 50 billable conversations, 10 seats, first 50 Lyro conversations free (one time), Tidio branding
- Starter — $24.17/mo (annual-equivalent shown) — 100 billable conversations, 10 seats, 50 Lyro conversations (one time)
- Growth — from $49.17/mo (annual-equivalent shown) — 250 to 2,000 billable conversations, 10 seats; Lyro is a paid add-on from $32.50/mo for 50 Lyro conversations
- Plus — from $300/mo plus usage — custom limits with separate AI and human conversation billing; Premium is quote-only with pay-per-resolution Lyro billing
Small e-commerce and service businesses that want a quick-to-launch AI chatbot and live chat in one low-cost tool.
Teams with complex, multi-step support issues or high AI volumes, where add-on pricing adds up.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 90/100. In independent task testing it answered accurately and followed support policies more consistently than the other AI agents tested, and it can take simple actions such as order updates, though some reviewers say multi-part questions trip it up.
- Integrations & channels: 80/100. It covers web chat, email and social messaging in Tidio’s inbox and can plug into other help desks, but deeper CRM connections are limited.
- Value: 80/100. The entry price is low, but Lyro is a separate add-on billed by conversation, which raises the real cost as volume grows.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It names its AI provider and offers a data processing agreement with EU hosting, but does not clearly state whether conversations are used for training.
- Expert & User Ratings: 90/100. Users rate it highly, and several reviewers include it among recommended AI support chatbots for small businesses.
Our verdict
Tidio Lyro ranks second: it posted the strongest result in independent task testing of AI support agents, and it pairs a quick, low-cost setup with live chat and ticketing in one inbox. Lyro is a paid add-on billed by conversation, and its actions are simpler than those of the top-ranked agent.
- Quick, no-code setup that learns from your website and help content
- Answers are kept to the content and guidance you provide
- Live chat, ticketing and AI in one inbox with a usable free plan
- Lyro is a paid add-on on Starter and Growth, so costs stack up
- Some reviewers say it struggles with multi-part questions not covered in your content
- Removing Tidio branding costs extra on lower plans
- Lyro is billed by Lyro conversations on most plans, starting at $32.50/mo for 50; the Premium plan uses pay-per-resolution billing instead.
- Prices shown on the pricing page appear to be annual-billed equivalents; monthly billing costs more.
- The free plan includes only 50 Lyro conversations in total, not per month.

Best For: Shopify stores that want an AI agent that can act on orders

Detailed Analysis
Key features
- AI Agent that answers order, return and product questions from help articles, website content, documents and Shopify data
- Opt-in actions such as cancelling orders, editing shipping addresses and pausing or skipping subscriptions, with customer confirmation for irreversible steps
- Shopping assistant role for pre-purchase product questions and recommendations
- Replies in over 80 languages across email, chat, SMS, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp
- Handover to human agents when it is unsure, meets a sensitive topic or detects frustration, plus custom handover rules
Pricing
- Starter — $10/mo (monthly only) — 50 tickets, 30 automated interactions; unlimited seats
- Basic — $60/mo or $600/yr — 300 tickets, 30 automated interactions; about $0.40 per extra ticket
- Pro — $360/mo or $3,600/yr — 2,000 tickets, 190 automated interactions; Advanced is $900/mo or $9,000/yr with 5,000 tickets and 530 automated interactions
- AI Agent overage — $1.50 per automated interaction past the plan allowance; Enterprise pricing is quote-only
Shopify and other e-commerce brands that want an AI agent to resolve order and subscription requests across chat, email and social channels.
Businesses outside e-commerce or without a connected Shopify store, since the AI’s actions are built around store data.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 90/100. It answers from store data and help content in many languages and can cancel orders, edit addresses and manage subscriptions, with handover rules for tricky cases.
- Integrations & channels: 80/100. It covers email, chat, SMS and social channels with many e-commerce app connections, but it is centered on Shopify stores.
- Value: 70/100. Seats are unlimited, but per-interaction AI fees on top of ticket allowances make costs climb for busy stores.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It says the data its AI accesses does not train outside AI models, and it hosts EU merchants on EU servers.
- Expert & User Ratings: 90/100. Reviewers often rank it among the leading AI support agents for online stores, and merchants rate it well.
Our verdict
Gorgias AI Agent ranks third: for Shopify stores it goes beyond answering questions to cancel orders, edit addresses and manage subscriptions, in over 80 languages and across email, chat, SMS and social messages. It is built around e-commerce, and per-interaction AI fees sit on top of ticket-based pricing.
- Takes real actions on orders and subscriptions with customer confirmation steps
- Covers email, chat, SMS and social messaging in one help desk with unlimited seats
- Multilingual replies even when help content is not translated
- Each automated interaction carries a fee on top of ticket-based pricing
- Built mainly for Shopify stores, with less value for other businesses
- Some users report a glitchy mobile app and voice add-on
- An automated interaction is billed when the AI fully handles a request and no human replies within 72 hours; that conversation also counts toward your ticket allowance.
- The pricing page turns the AI Agent on by default, which raises the shown plan price; the help desk can be bought without it.
- Order actions require a Shopify store connected to Gorgias, with one AI Agent per store.

Key features
- Answers grounded in your CRM data and knowledge base, including third-party knowledge brought in through Data 360
- Actions and workflows such as managing orders and scheduling appointments, built on Salesforce automation
- Deploys on web, portals, voice, SMS and WhatsApp with multilingual support
- Trust Layer with prompt checks, bias detection and audit features
- Escalates to human service agents with the full customer context
Pricing
- Per conversation — $2 per conversation — flat pricing for customer-facing agents; cannot be combined with Flex Credits in the same org
- Flex Credits — $500 per 100,000 credits — usage-based, roughly 20 credits ($0.10) for a simple knowledge answer and more for multi-step actions; unused credits do not roll over
- Agentforce for Service add-on — $125 per user/mo billed annually — unmetered employee use on Service Cloud
- Service Cloud editions — Starter Suite $25, Pro Suite $100, Core $195, Advanced $395 per user/mo; Max $550 per user/mo includes 2.75 million Flex Credits a year (Pro Suite and above billed annually)
Enterprises on Salesforce that want an AI agent working directly on their CRM records, cases and workflows.
Small or mid-size teams not on Salesforce, or anyone wanting a quick, low-cost setup.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 80/100. It answers from CRM data and knowledge and runs Salesforce workflows, though users say getting good results takes significant setup.
- Integrations & channels: 90/100. It covers web, voice, SMS and WhatsApp with context-rich escalation, but works best inside the Salesforce ecosystem.
- Value: 60/100. Per-conversation and credit pricing are published, but layered license, add-on and usage costs make the total high and hard to compare.
- Privacy & reliability: 90/100. Salesforce states it does not use customer data to train generative models and that its AI providers do not retain customer data.
- Expert & User Ratings: 90/100. Reviewers often include it among leading AI service platforms, and users rate it well, though setup complexity is a common complaint.
Our verdict
Salesforce Agentforce Service ranks fourth: it works directly on Salesforce records and workflows across web, voice, SMS and WhatsApp, backed by a clear written commitment not to train generative models on customer data. Users find setup complex, and license, add-on and usage costs make it expensive for anyone not already invested in Salesforce.
- Works directly on Salesforce cases, orders and customer records
- Clear written commitment that customer data is not used to train generative models
- Choice of flat per-conversation pricing or usage-based credits
- Users describe setup and governance as complex
- Costs stack up across Service Cloud licenses, add-ons and usage
- Best suited to companies already invested in Salesforce
- Per-conversation pricing is $2 each and cannot be mixed with Flex Credits in the same org; with Flex Credits, each action consumes credits and usage beyond your entitlement is billed monthly at your contracted rate.
- Most Agentforce options require an underlying Service Cloud edition, several of which are billed annually under contract.
- Pricing beyond list prices is set through Salesforce sales, so totals vary by contract.
Zendesk AI agents

- Suite Professional — $115 per agent/mo annual ($149 monthly) — 10 automated resolutions per agent each month; Enterprise is quote-only
- Extra automated resolutions — $1.50 each on a commitment or $2.00 pay-as-you-go; Copilot add-on $50 per agent/mo annual
Companies already running Zendesk that want AI agents across messaging, email and voice without adding another vendor.
Teams not on Zendesk, or those wanting a low, predictable AI bill at high volume.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 80/100. It answers from your help center and other sources and runs multi-step procedures in many languages, though users say the AI can feel less unified than dedicated agents.
- Integrations & channels: 90/100. It covers messaging, email and voice natively within Zendesk with context-rich routing, but it is designed around the Zendesk help desk.
- Value: 70/100. AI agents are included in every plan, but the small resolution allowance means most teams pay $1.50 to $2.00 per extra resolution on top of seats.
- Privacy & reliability: 70/100. It says third parties do not train on your inputs, but customers on older AI agents are being moved to the new version, and a 2026 incident cut some accounts off from AI agents for several days.
- Expert & User Ratings: 90/100. Reviewers often rank it among the top AI support agents, and users rate the wider platform well.
Our verdict
Zendesk AI agents rank fifth: they now come with every Zendesk plan and cover messaging, email and voice in 80 languages, with step-by-step procedures for multi-step requests. Users say the AI can feel bolted on, resolution fees add to seat costs, and customers on older AI agents face a forced migration.
- Included in every Suite and Support plan, with a small allowance of resolutions
- Covers messaging, email and voice in 80 languages
- Deep fit with Zendesk tickets, routing and reporting
- Per-resolution fees on top of per-agent seats can add up
- Some users say the AI tools feel bolted on, with several separate add-ons
- Older AI agent setups must be migrated to the new AI agents
- An automated resolution is billed only when the AI agent resolves a request with no handoff to a human; extra resolutions cost $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go.
- Older Essential and legacy AI agents are being retired, with forced migration to the new AI agents from January 2027, so existing users should plan the move and check how it affects their resolution costs.
- Copilot for human agents is a separate add-on at $50 per agent/mo billed annually.
- Price change: In June 2026, Zendesk told customers using its Essential and legacy AI agents that they must move to the upgraded AI agents, with forced migration from January 2027, and said usage-based costs may change.
- Outage: On July 31, 2026, a small number of accounts lost access to AI agents for about four days during a product update.

Small and growing teams that want live chat, an omnichannel inbox and an AI agent at a flat workspace price.
Larger support teams that need advanced routing, SLA management or deep reporting.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 70/100. Its AI agent answers from several content sources with confidence controls and handoff, and testers saw it handle a solid share of routine requests, though users report uneven performance.
- Integrations & channels: 80/100. It covers web chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and SMS with many integrations, but connected AI actions are reserved for the top plan.
- Value: 80/100. Flat workspace pricing with seats and AI credits included is affordable, though included AI conversations are modest and the top plan is a big step up.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It is EU-hosted and offers a signable data processing agreement, but it does not clearly state whether conversations are used to train its AI.
- Expert & User Ratings: 80/100. Users rate it well and reviewers often recommend it as an affordable choice for small teams.
Our verdict
Crisp ranks sixth: it combines an AI agent, live chat and an omnichannel inbox at a flat workspace price with several seats included, which suits small teams. The included AI credits cover a modest number of conversations, and users report uneven bot performance.
- Flat per-workspace pricing with several seats included
- AI agent learns from many content sources and hands off with context
- Broad channel coverage, including WhatsApp, Instagram and SMS
- Included AI credits cover a limited number of automated conversations
- Reporting and ticket routing are basic for larger teams
- Big price jump from Essentials to Plus
- Each paid plan includes a set dollar amount of AI credits; the vendor estimates about 90, 450 or 1,350 automated conversations per month on Mini, Essentials and Plus.
- The full omnichannel inbox and AI chatbot builder start on Essentials at $95/mo; the free plan has no AI credits.
- Prices are per workspace with seats included; Plus adds $10/mo for each seat beyond 20.

Small businesses and teams that want to launch an AI agent quickly on their website, messaging apps or phone without per-resolution fees.
Support teams that need a full help desk handoff, deep answer controls or reliable handling of complex questions.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 70/100. It can answer from your content and take actions such as booking and form submission, but users and independent testers report shaky accuracy and policy handling on harder questions.
- Integrations & channels: 80/100. It reaches web chat, messaging apps, SMS, email and phone with Shopify and Salesforce embeds, though handoff runs through its own app rather than a help desk.
- Value: 80/100. A free plan and flat monthly plans that include hundreds to thousands of conversations give small businesses a low, predictable cost.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It says it does not use collected data to improve its services, though conversations are processed by third-party AI providers.
- Expert & User Ratings: 80/100. Reviewers place it among the top AI support tools for easy setup, and users rate it highly while noting accuracy limits.
Our verdict
Jotform AI Agents ranks seventh: it is fast to set up without code, reaches web chat, messaging apps, SMS and phone, and its flat plans include generous conversation limits. Independent testing found it often missed support policies, and users report inaccurate answers to complex questions.
- Fast no-code setup with many templates
- Wide channel reach, including messaging apps, SMS and phone
- Free plan and flat plan pricing with no per-resolution fees
- Users report inaccurate answers on complex or off-script questions
- Human handoff relies on staff joining through its own app rather than a help desk

- Voice minutes are a shared monthly limit, and a phone number is a separate add-on available for the US, UK and Canada.
- Nonprofits and schools get half off Bronze, Silver and Gold; there is no trial of paid plans, but the free plan can be used to test.

- Works across messaging, email and voice, with multilingual support

Small businesses or teams that want transparent, self-serve pricing and a quick start.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 80/100. It automates conversations with safeguards against made-up answers and can take actions in your systems, though some users say it struggles off-script.
- Integrations & channels: 80/100. It covers messaging, email and voice and connects to business systems through APIs, but setup and tuning are heavy.
- Value: 50/100. Pricing is quote-only with volume commitments, so buyers cannot compare costs up front and users rate it as expensive.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It publishes a trust center with business certifications, though its AI training and provider retention terms are not shown publicly.
- Expert & User Ratings: 80/100. Reviewers include it among enterprise AI support agents, and users rate it highly on a smaller base of reviews.
Our verdict
Ada ranks eighth: it is a capable enterprise AI agent with safeguards against made-up answers, actions in your systems and tools to test and coach it. Quote-only pricing, annual commitments and setup that can take months hold it back against rivals with published prices.

- Covers messaging, email and voice from one platform
- Tools for testing, coaching and improving the agent over time
- No public pricing, and users rate it as expensive
- Setup and tuning can take months

- Users report an average implementation time of about two months.

Small teams that do not use HubSpot or cannot justify Professional seats and onboarding fees just to use the AI agent.
How it scored
- Answer quality & resolution: 70/100. It draws on a broad range of content and CRM data and can take actions, but independent task testing found its answers and policy handling weaker than most rivals.
- Integrations & channels: 90/100. It covers chat, email, forms, WhatsApp, Messenger and phone with native CRM context and full-context handoff, though it requires HubSpot.
- Value: 70/100. The fee per resolution is low, but the required Professional seats and $1,500 onboarding fee make the real entry cost high for small teams.
- Privacy & reliability: 70/100. HubSpot uses customer data to train its own models by default with an admin opt-out, and says its AI providers may not train on your data.
- Expert & User Ratings: 80/100. Reviewers often include it among top AI support tools, with some naming it a top pick for most teams, and users rate Service Hub well.
Our verdict
HubSpot Customer Agent ranks ninth: it covers chat, email, messaging apps and phone with CRM context at a low fee per resolved conversation. It requires Service Hub Professional seats and an onboarding fee, and independent task testing found its accuracy and policy handling behind most rivals.

- Uses CRM history to personalize answers and take actions

- A billable resolution is a messaging conversation the agent handles without a human taking over within 72 hours, and a qualified lead can also count; voice is billed per minute.
- Customer Agent needs at least a Professional or Enterprise edition; buying a Professional or Enterprise Service seat unlocks a 14-day unlimited trial.
- Included HubSpot Credits reset monthly with no rollover, and credits are not combined across HubSpot products.

How to Choose
Test it on your own questions
Answer quality depends heavily on your help content, so a demo built on the vendor’s examples tells you little. Run a trial with your real, messiest customer questions, check how often the AI is wrong, and see how easily you can trace and correct a bad answer.
Start from the tools you already use
If you already run a help desk, CRM or store platform such as Zendesk, HubSpot, Salesforce or Shopify, check its own AI agent and which outside agents connect to it. Some agents, such as Intercom Fin and Tidio’s Lyro, can run on top of other help desks, which avoids switching systems.
Understand exactly what you’re billed for
Tools charge per seat, per conversation, per resolution or per outcome, and each vendor defines a billable event differently. Model the cost of a busy month, check whether handoffs or unresolved chats are charged, and look for spending caps.
Check the actions, not just the answers
Answering FAQs is only part of the job. If customers ask about orders, refunds, bookings or account changes, confirm the AI can look these up or complete them in your systems, and that it asks customers to confirm before anything that can’t be undone.
Make reaching a person easy
Customers should be able to ask for a human at any point, and your team should receive the full conversation and customer details when they do. Check that you can set handoff rules by topic, so sensitive or complex issues go straight to people.
Read how it handles customer data
Support conversations often include names, orders and account details. Check whether the vendor uses your conversations to train its AI by default, whether you can opt out, which AI providers process the data, and whether a data processing agreement is available.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an AI customer service chatbot?
It is software that answers customer questions automatically, usually in a chat window on your website and increasingly over email, messaging apps and phone. Modern AI agents learn from your help articles, website and order data, can take simple actions such as checking an order, and hand the conversation to a person when they can’t help.
How much do AI customer service chatbots cost?
Pricing models vary. Intercom Fin charges $0.99 per outcome and HubSpot’s Customer Agent $0.50 per resolution on top of help desk seats, Tidio’s Lyro is an add-on from $32.50/mo for 50 conversations, and tools such as Crisp and Jotform AI Agents use flat monthly plans with usage limits. Estimate your monthly volume before comparing.
Will an AI chatbot replace my support team?
Usually not. These tools are best at repetitive questions such as order status, returns and how-to queries, which frees your team for complex or sensitive issues. You still need people to handle handoffs, keep help content up to date and review the AI’s answers.
Do these chatbots use my customer conversations to train AI?
It varies. Salesforce and Chatbase say they don’t use customer data to train AI models, Intercom uses anonymized customer data to improve Fin unless you ask to opt out, and HubSpot trains its own models on customer data by default with an admin opt-out. Check each tool’s AI terms if this matters to you.
How are these different from AI sales assistants?
This page ranks tools for answering and resolving customer support questions. AI sales assistants focus on prospecting, outreach and following up with leads, so we rank those separately, even though some chatbots can also qualify leads.
How We Evaluated
Every Flickthru ranking follows the same five-step process, applied the same way to every product on the page.
- Market scan: We gathered the 25 platforms recommended across current expert reviews, buyer guides and verified-user ratings, then shortlisted the 10 that best fit this category and offer their own built-in AI.
- Evidence gathering: For each shortlisted product we collected features, plans and current pricing from the vendor, alongside the strengths and weaknesses reported in recent expert reviews.
- Risk checks: We checked every product for recent price changes and service reliability. Anything relevant is summarised in the product’s Detailed Analysis and reflected in its score.
- Scoring: Each product is scored against the five criteria in our Evaluation Methodology using the same rules for every product, and the Flickthru Score out of 100 combines them. Answer quality & resolution, the main job these tools do, counts most. Value is judged on what the paid plans deliver for their price. Each product’s Detailed Analysis explains how it scored on every criterion. Each criterion is scored from 1 to 10, where 8 means good, 9 very good and 10 excellent.
- Editorial independence: Rankings are decided by Flickthru’s editorial process alone. Placement cannot be bought.
