Our verdict
Jobscan ranks first: its match report is the most thorough on this page, checking hard and soft skills, job title and ATS formatting problems against each posting. It is held back by the highest monthly price here and AI rewrites that reviewers say need careful editing.
- Detailed match analysis split into hard skills, soft skills and job title
- Clear formatting checks for elements that can confuse ATS parsers
- Tips tailored to specific applicant tracking systems
- Monthly plan is among the most expensive on this page
- AI rewrites can be generic and need editing, according to reviewers

- The free plan has a small monthly scan allowance and requires an account; uploads accept PDF and DOCX.
- Plans renew automatically each month or quarter until you cancel; the trial on the quarterly plan converts to a paid charge unless you cancel before it ends.
- Refunds are limited to requests made within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting, with no use in that period, and a processing fee applies.

Our verdict
Enhancv ranks second: its free checker runs a broad set of parsing, formatting and skills checks, and reviewers praise the concrete rewrite examples in its reports. Its job matching is less detailed than Jobscan’s, and the best Pro price needs six months paid up front.

Our verdict
Resume Worded ranks fourth: its line-by-line feedback on verbs, metrics and filler ties for the strongest on this page, and users rate it very highly. Its job-description matching is less detailed than the scanners ranked above it, and monthly billing is expensive.
- Specific bullet-level feedback on verbs, metrics and filler

- Feedback & fixes: 80/100. Issues are ranked by urgency and can be fixed in the editor with AI writing help, though some specific suggestions are locked on the free plan.
- Value: 80/100. Pro costs $29/mo, which is on the high side for checking alone, but a $149 lifetime option suits longer searches.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It says it does not sell users’ personal information and deletes data when you close your account, though it does not say whether resumes are used for AI training.

Our verdict
Rezi ranks fifth: it scores resumes on a broad list of ATS items, matches keywords to a posting and ranks fixes by urgency inside its editor, with a lifetime option for long searches. - Value: 80/100. The yearly plan costs $8/mo and includes the checker, AI writer and full builder, though the monthly plan is $24.

Our verdict
Kickresume ranks sixth: users rate it highly, and its yearly plan bundles the ATS checker with a capable AI writer and builder at a low price. Its checker focuses on readability and formatting rather than matching a resume to a specific job posting, which keeps it below the scanners ranked higher.
- Clear score with checks grouped into design, structure and content

- AI review flags issues again after each edit
- The checker itself does not produce a match rate against a pasted job description

How it scored
- ATS & job-match analysis: 70/100. It scores ATS basics, hard skills and soft skills separately against a job description, though its formatting checks do not cover items such as tables or columns.
- Feedback & fixes: 60/100. It recommends updates and flags failed checks with a description, but rewriting help is lighter than in more detailed checkers.
- Value: 60/100. Unlimited access starts at $7 per week with lower monthly and quarterly rates, while free credits cover only a few scans a month.
- Privacy & reliability: 80/100. It says it will never sell your data and deletes it on verified request, though resumes may be processed by outside AI providers.
- Expert & User Ratings: 60/100. Reviewers note it is easy to use but tend to rank it below more detailed scanners.
Our verdict
ResyMatch ranks tenth: it is simple to use and scores ATS basics, hard skills and soft skills separately against a posting. Its formatting checks and rewriting help are lighter than the tools ranked above it, and Unlimited is billed weekly by default.
- Hard skills, soft skills and ATS checks are scored separately
- ATS section covers job title, education, headings, dates and unreadable characters
- Free credits allow several scans per month, plus a free sample scan without an account
- Unlimited access is billed weekly by default
- Feedback on wording and impact is lighter than in more detailed checkers
- Free scans require account registration and email verification
- Free credits refresh monthly: 10 standard credits, with a resume scan costing 2 and a job description scan 1.
- The Unlimited plan renews every week until cancelled; cancellation is one click from the dashboard, and no refund policy is shown on the plan page.

How to Choose
Make sure it checks against a real job posting
A general resume score tells you little on its own. Choose a tool that lets you paste a specific job description and shows which hard skills, soft skills and job-title terms are missing, so you can tailor each application.
Look for formatting and parsing checks
Tables, columns, text in headers, unusual section names and inconsistent dates can stop an applicant tracking system from reading your resume correctly. The more useful checkers flag these problems and explain how to fix them.
Judge the fixes, not just the score
Scores differ from tool to tool and no score can promise an interview. Favor tools that give a clear list of specific changes, such as stronger verbs, measurable results and missing skills, and check every AI rewrite for accuracy.
Check what the free plan really shows
Many checkers show a score for free but hide the full keyword list or detailed report behind a paid plan, and some limit free scans each week or month. Run your own resume through the free version before paying.
Read the billing terms before you subscribe
Plans are billed weekly, monthly, quarterly, every six months or once for lifetime access, and most renew automatically. Refund windows can be short, so set a reminder to cancel when your search ends.
Think about your personal data
Resumes hold your contact details and work history. Read how each tool stores and deletes uploaded resumes, which outside AI services process them and whether they are used to improve the tool’s own AI.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an ATS resume checker do?
It reads your resume the way an applicant tracking system might, flags formatting and section problems that could stop it being read correctly, and compares it with a job posting to show which skills and keywords are missing. Most also give a score and a list of suggested changes.
Is a high ATS score enough to get an interview?
No. There is no single ATS score used by employers, and each checker scores differently. A strong match helps your resume get read, but recruiters still judge your experience, so aim for a clear, accurate resume rather than stuffing in keywords.
Can I check my resume for free?
Yes. Most tools on this page offer a free scan, though many limit how many scans you get each week or month, or hide the full keyword list and detailed report behind a paid plan. Jobscan, SkillSyncer, Resume Worded, Teal and Rezi all have free plans.
Do these tools use my resume to train AI?
It varies. Resume Worded says resume content is used only to give you recommendations and that its AI providers may not train on it, while Teal’s privacy policy says anonymized career content may be used to improve its AI. Many others do not say clearly, so check each tool’s privacy policy if this matters to you.
How are these different from AI resume builders?
Resume builders help you write and design a resume from scratch, while checkers and ATS scanners review an existing resume against a job posting. Several builders include a checker, and this page judges them only on that checking job; we rank resume builders separately.
How We Evaluated
Every Flickthru ranking follows the same five-step process, applied the same way to every product on the page.
- Market scan: We gathered the 25 platforms recommended across current expert reviews, buyer guides and verified-user ratings, then shortlisted the 10 that best fit this category and offer their own built-in AI.
- Evidence gathering: For each shortlisted product we collected features, plans and current pricing from the vendor, alongside the strengths and weaknesses reported in recent expert reviews.
- Risk checks: We checked every product for recent price changes and service reliability. Anything relevant is summarised in the product’s Detailed Analysis and reflected in its score.
- Scoring: Each product is scored against the five criteria in our Evaluation Methodology using the same rules for every product, and the Flickthru Score out of 100 combines them. ATS & job-match analysis, the main job these tools do, counts most. Value is judged on what the paid plans deliver for their price. Each product’s Detailed Analysis explains how it scored on every criterion. Each criterion is scored from 1 to 10, where 8 means good, 9 very good and 10 excellent.
- Editorial independence: Rankings are decided by Flickthru’s editorial process alone. Placement cannot be bought.
